A little help

Let’s make it simple.

A few answers to help you settle in.

How do I explore my transactions in charts?
  1. Select a Book and open the Insights tab.
  2. Choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly. Use the arrows or date picker to move to another period.
  3. Choose Expenses, Income or Refunds, then Bar, Line, Pie or Plot.
  4. Scroll for category totals and chart data. In Plot, open an entry from the transaction list for its full details.

Transfers are excluded. Refunds reduce net spending on the date received; a pie shows category amounts for the selected transaction type.

Where do I change the theme?
Open Settings → Appearance → Theme. Choose Original Green, Original Green Dark, Light, Pink, Dark, Midnight or Midnight Pink. Charts and widgets follow the app theme. The theme picker on this website only changes this website.
How do I sync or resolve different versions?
  1. Open the intended iCloud Book. New changes are saved locally and queued for iCloud automatically.
  2. Tap the sync icon beside Add and Settings to request a cloud check. Check the status for pending work or errors; the button cannot guarantee immediate delivery by iCloud.
  3. Compatible edits merge automatically. If a change needs a decision, open Settings → Review iCloud changes and compare the versions before choosing what to keep.

Keep both devices online and signed into their intended Apple Accounts. Separate local Books are not automatically shared Books.

How does an entry show who added it?
New entries record the original contributor and creation time. Shared transaction rows show the contributor; tap an entry to see more detail. In Settings → Shared entries, enter Your name (optional) for future entries. Otherwise the app uses an available iCloud name or contributor identifier. An older entry without this information shows Not recorded; editing it does not invent an original author.
Can I add expense and income categories?
Open the transaction editor and choose Expense or Income. Use the new-category control beside Category, give it a name and tap Create. Expense and income categories are separate and belong to the selected Book.
How do I delete or leave a Book?
Select the Book, then open Settings → Delete Book. Review the confirmation carefully and export a backup first if you need a copy. Deleting a Book you own removes its records and affects its shared participants. If someone else owns the Book, use Leave Book instead to remove your access.
Why can’t I see a shared receipt?
  1. Open the transaction on the phone that added it and check that the image opens. If it says no receipt is attached, edit the entry, attach the image and wait for it to load before saving.
  2. Confirm both people are using the same shared iCloud Book. Keep both devices connected and use the sync button to request a cloud check.
  3. Open the transaction on the receiving phone. Receipt details distinguish an absent image from one that could not be read. If it still fails, keep the original image and report the app version and steps through TestFlight.

Older entries saved before their selected photo finished loading may need the receipt attached again. Sync cannot recreate an image that was never saved.

Where do I start?
Create a Book, choose its currency, then add your cash, bank or card accounts. Tap Add expense and choose the account you paid from. You can add nicknames to keep accounts easy to recognize.
How do I set up Back Tap?
Follow the three-step double-tap guide. In Pennyhush, Settings → Set up double tap helps you save Quick Add, assign it under Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap → Double Tap, and try the expense form.
Can I capture Apple Pay purchases?
An optional Transaction automation in Shortcuts can pass supported purchase details to Pennyhush. Download the shortcut and follow the setup guide. This does not import Wallet history. Check the first purchase and review missing details before posting.
Why isn’t a Book appearing on another iPhone?
Confirm you’re signed into the intended Apple Account with iCloud enabled, that the Book is an iCloud Book, and that both devices have a connection. A local Book stays on its iPhone until moved to iCloud. Keep a backup before changing accounts or deleting any copy.
Who can see a shared Book?
People you invite can see the records in that Book. Shared Book management uses iCloud and requires iOS 26 or later for full collaboration. Your other private Books are separate. See Books and data controls for more.
How do I invite someone to a Book?

Pennyhush does not send an invitation email automatically. You send the link after adding the person.

  1. Open your Book’s People screen. Move the Book to iCloud if asked, then tap Prepare invitation.
  2. Enter the email address for the Apple Account the person uses with iCloud. Choose Member or Admin, then tap Continue to send link and confirm.
  3. Tap Send invitation link. Choose Messages, Mail or another app, select the person, and send. You can also copy and send the link. Opening or cancelling the share sheet does not send an invitation.
  4. The recipient installs Pennyhush, opens your link on their iPhone while signed in to the invited Apple Account, and taps Accept invitation. People changes from Waiting to join to Joined after iCloud confirms acceptance. Pull down to refresh.

If the link does not work, confirm the iCloud email address with the recipient. Only people added to this Book can join. Full sharing requires iOS 26 or later. App installation through TestFlight is a separate invitation from Apple.

Can I take a picture of a receipt?
Yes. Use the camera option when attaching a receipt, or choose an existing image. If camera access was denied, change Pennyhush’s permission in iPhone Settings. Review recognized amounts and text before saving.
Does Pennyhush automatically sync my bank?
Open Settings → Import purchases from Wallet to choose supported purchases directly in the app, then review and save them. No shortcut is needed. Automatic account syncing is not available in this version. Availability depends on Apple, your region and eligible accounts; an Apple Pay card does not necessarily expose its history. Follow the Wallet import guide.
How do I export my records?
Select your Book and open Settings. Choose Export Book as CSV or Export backup file. Keep exports somewhere you trust: they contain financial details. A backup can include receipts.
How do I get in touch?
Contact Cristal Code through our company website. Include your app version, iOS version and the steps that led to the issue. Invited testers can also send feedback through TestFlight. Please don’t send bank credentials, full card numbers or private receipt details.
